Recovery from Hurricane Helene

While most impacts from Hurricane Helene (late September 2024) have been addressed, a few areas of concern or impacts to operations remain:
  • Modified camping is required at Chadwell Gap backcountry campsite. While the campsite is OPEN, the bear cables are gone. Campers must bring their own rope to secure their food.
  • On Ewing Trail, hikers will encounter a large root ball and downed tree but should be able to navigate around them.
  • On White Rocks Connector Trail, hikers will encounter 2 roots balls but should be able to navigate around them.
  • On Sugar Run Trail, hikers will enounter a couple of downed trees but should be able to navigate around them.

Your safety is our utmost priority. We urge you to stay updated with the latest information, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we continue to safely restore access to park trails and areas.
