Patrol Reports

14K Patrol #1 Ramos-Leon, Guetschow, and team returned to Talkeetna last week after a successful setup of the 14,200’ Camp. We are very grateful to the Volunteers in Parks who dedicated their time to setting up, and to a volunteer who specializes in remote weather stations, who was able to work with the NPS teams to get the weather station at 14,000’ reporting successfully.

To find the weather conditions at the 14,000’ station, head to the MESOWEST webpage:

1) mesowest.utah.edu
2) Under the “Station Search”, change the selection from “address” to “station ID”.
3) After switching the search to station ID, type “FCPA2,” and hit enter to search.

This will bring you to the weather station for “Denali 14,200 Foot Camp, Station ID: FCPA2”

14K Patrol #2 Kayes and his team got a few extra days at Base Camp this week, which they had helped install on the front end of their patrol. The team was the first patrol of the season to reach High Camp. We are told they had a great time along the way, with reports of cakes being consumed on both the lower glacier and at 14,200’.
