September 10, 2024 Update

It’s official: steel erection is underway at the project site. After two seasons of planning and preparatory work, the first pieces of steel have been assembled on the launch platform at the east abutment.

As of this writing, the contractor has completed the first three steps (of 264 total steps!) of assembly, installing two bottom chords, two floor beams, and one of the two lower diagonals. This framing will ultimately form the “bay” of the truss just east of the midpoint of the bridge.
