Reds Meadow Road Reconstruction Project - 2025Reds Meadow Road is being reconstructed to greatly improve public access and traffic safety for all who visit the area, reduce likelihood of vehicular accidents and shorten emergency response times. The U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service appreciate your patience and understanding as the contractor works to reconstruct the road and stabilize the hillside over the next few years. When Reds Meadow Road opens for the season (tentatively, July 3) it will remain closed 24 hours per day for construction work from Sundays at 11 pm through Thursdays at 8 pm. However, from July 3 through August 28, the road will also be open on Thursdays starting at 6 pm with one-hour delays. There are no planned delays starting Thursdays at 6 pm through each weekend. The road will also be open on Monday, September 1 (Labor Day). The road is planned to close for the season on October 6. This closure also affects shuttle service (planned for July 3 through October 5). Please visit Inyo National Forest's website for more information.
