2026 Free Entrance Days in the National Parks

Come experience the national parks! All National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone (other fees, including timed entry or reservation fees, may apply). Mark your calendar for these entrance fee-free dates:

Beginning in 2026, free entrance on these days will be for US citizens and residents only. Nonresidents will pay the regular entrance fee and any applicable nonresident fees.

There is no fee charged by the National Park Service to enter Fire Island National Seashore sites, but plan to pay parking and/or transportation fees charged by adjacent parks or ferry companies to get to most parts of Fire Island.

Parking fees may apply at nearby state or county parks that allow access on foot to National Seashore lands. See their websites below for more information on parking fees.

National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Passes

Wilderness Visitor Center Closed Until Further Notice

The Wilderness Visitor Center is closed until further notice due to imposed vehicle weight restrictions on the Smith Point Bridge. Visitors interested in obtaining Sportsman’s Vehicle Permits, Veteran, Military and Access passes, passport stamps, or park literature can stop in the Patchogue Ferry Terminal, 150 West Ave., Patchogue, NY, Wednesday-Sunday, 9:00 AM-4:00 PM.


Fire Island National Seashore issues only Access, Annual Military, and Veteran Military Interagency Passes. These passes may be obtained with proper documentation at Fire Island National Seashore's Wilderness Visitor Center adjacent to Smith Point County Park. Annual, Annual Senior, Lifetime Senior, and Every Kid Outdoors passes are NOT available at the Wilderness Visitor Center.

Please call the Wilderness Visitor Center at 631-281-3010 ahead of traveling to confirm that passes are in stock.
