Planning ahead is important

• The Memorial Area is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Visitor Center, Picnic Area, Washington Family Burial Ground, and Potomac River Beach are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. On Mondays and Tuesdays, there are no tours inside of the Memorial House Museum.
• Bring everything you'll need for a day outdoors including water bottles, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray.
• Park tours are offered Wednesday through Sunday at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. During inclement weather, an indoor program is offered inside of the visitor center theater.

Recreate responsibly

• Do not attempt to access areas that are closed or behind fences. They are closed for your safety.
• Do not touch or feed the farm animals.
• Swimming is discouraged year-round due to strong currents, underwater hazards, and poor water quality. Sharp dropoffs along the shoreline can create dangerous situations.
• If a parking area is full, please do not park in the grass or along the road.

Summer: Temperatures range from the mid 70s to the high 90s. The weather is typically humid with frequent thunder storms.

Winter: The weather varies from mild and rainy to snow and ice. Temperatures range from the teens to the 50s.

Spring and Fall: The weather is typically pleasant with warm days, cool nights, and low humidity. Temperatures range from the high 50s to the low 80s.

NOAA Tide Predictions

Kayakers and canoeists should know the tide predictions when using the Potomac River Beach as a put in. The nature trail can flood at high tide.
