Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument preserves over 87,000 acres in Maine's North Woods. The rivers, wetlands, ponds, and forests in Katahdin Woods and Water National Monument are home to a rich diversity of life. The East Branch Penobscot River, Wassataquoik Stream, and the Seboeis River flow through a landscape of rolling forests and wetlands.The monument is home to black bears, Canada lynx, moose, beavers, Atlantic salmon and countless other species. Explore the website to learn more about the geology, plants and animals, and community science opportunities in the monument.
