![]() This 2,700 acre park contains a 16-stop driving tour which takes visitors through all four units of Petersburg National Battlefield: General Grant's Headquarters at City Point (present day Hopewell), Virginia; The Eastern Front (where the initial assaults and the Battles of the Crater and Fort Stedman occurred); the Western Front, where intense fighting continued as Grant's Army encircled the city struggling to destroy the last of Lee's supply lines; and the Five Forks Battlefield, a battle in which the outcome would eventually lead to the Confederates' retreat to Appomattox. From Route 95 South: Take exit 52 (Wythe Street) Continue straight for approximately 2.5 miles. Entrance to park will be on your right. From Route 95 North: Take exit 50 D (Wythe Street) Continue straight for approximately 2.5 miles. Entrance to park will be on your right. From Route 295 Take Exit 9 West (toward Fort Lee) Continue straight for approximately 2 miles. Entrance to park will be on your right, just beyond Fort Lee. The Eastern Front (Main) Visitor Center is located approximately 2.5 miles east of Rt. 95 off of Route 36 in Petersburg. If travelling north on Rt. 95, take exit 50D and follow signs to Wythe Street. Once on Wythe Street, travel 2.5 miles east to entrance of Battlefield. If travelling south on Rt. 95, take Exit 52 (Wythe Street). Again, travel about 2.5 miles to entrance. Winters are usually cool with temperatures averaging in the 40s. Spring and fall are mild. Summer can bring very hot and humid weather. Entrance Fee-free This site is fee-free year-round. No entrance fee or pass is required. Public WiFi is not available.

Grant's Headquarters at City PointGeneral Grant's Headquarters at City PointStation is located in the former plantation home of the Eppes Family. When open, visitors can view a 15 minute video and tour the first floor of the home including a room with interpretive exhibits and two rooms with original 18th and 19th century furniture that belonged to the Eppes Family. Exhibits focus on the Union Army's occupation of City Point, as well as the lives of the free and enslaved people who lived on the plantation before the war.
