Current road alerts:
[NEW] Temporary Saturday morning closure on Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway
On Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 6 am to 9 am, Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway will be closed between K Street NW and Virginia Avenue NW for a permitted event.

[ONGOING] Closure on Joyce Road NW for bridge replacement   
Beginning December 2, 2024, Rock Creek Park and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will close Joyce Road NW from the entrance of Rock Creek Park Golf Course to Missouri Avenue NW while the bridge over Luzon Branch is replaced. The FHWA contractor will put detours in place to divert traffic to nearby park and city roadways. The closure is expected to be in place through June 2025.

[ONGOING] Temporary lane closures on Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway between K Street and Pennsylvania Avenue
From March 17 to August 12, 2025, there will be single lane closures on the Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway bridge between K Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW for bridge rehabilitation work. A Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) contractor will implement closures on either northbound or southbound lanes as needed to facilitate the work.

Temporary Closure of Rock Creek Multi-Use Trail between K Street and Pennsylvania Avenue
From March 17 to August 12, 2025, the multi-use trail between K Street NW and Pennsylvania Avenue NW will be closed to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists while a nearby road bridge undergoes rehabilitation work by a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) contractor. Please follow the signs which indicate a detour route.

Valley Trail closed between Juniper Spur Trail and Holly Trail
As of March 18, 2025, the Valley Trail is closed between the Juniper Spur and Holly (Pine) trails due to unsafe conditions, including a downed tree across the trail. Please abide by trail closure signs.

Glover Archbold Trail detour
For visitor safety, the southern end of the Glover Archbold Trail is under an emergency closure until further notice due to aerial hazards. Please follow the posted detour along Foxhall Rd. / 44th St. NW / P St. NW.

Restrictions in the Park

Beach Drive NW

• Beach Drive NW is closed to motor vehicles from Broad Branch Road NW to Joyce Road NW, from Grove 10 to Wise Road NW, and from West Beach Drive NW to the Maryland boundary.
• Sherrill Drive NW, closed to motor vehicles between 16th Street NW and Beach Drive NW
• Bingham Drive NW, closed to motor vehicles between Oregon Ave. NW and Beach Drive NW
