Metered Parking

There are 85 metered parking spaces in Rock Creek Park, located at the Thompson Boat Center. The meters provide revenue to support various park projects. 

The cost of metered parking as of January 1, 2024 is $2.30 per hour. As of October 1, 2025, the maximum parking time is 4 hours (not renewable at that same location), and is in effect from 5 am to midnight daily, including weekends and holidays. The parking lot is closed from midnight to 5 am. 

Pay stations accept credit cards and debit cards (no cash/coin). Payment can also be made via the Parkmobile app or website. The District of Columbia's Department of Public Works parking enforcement officers enforce these meters. 

Free Parking

Free parking is available at any of the numbered picnic areas, the Rock Creek Park Nature Center, and off of 16th Street near the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center.
