![]() NPS photo The Thaddeus Kosciuszko house is a national memorial to an international champion of human freedom. It is located at 301 Pine Street in Philadelphia. Kosciuszko, a Polish military engineer and volunteer in the American Revolution, played a significant role at Saratoga and West Point. After the Revolutionary War, Kosciuszko became a hero in his own country by leading an unsuccessful uprising against Russian forces. He returned to Philadelphia in 1797, entertaining many visitors in this house, including Thomas Jefferson and Chief Little Turtle of the Miami Nation.
