Frances Perkins National Monument is a 57-acre rural homestead along the Damariscotta River in Newcastle, Maine, where Frances Perkins visited regularly throughout her lifetime. The historic homestead includes the Perkins’ family home built in 1837, farm buildings, gardens, and paths that Perkins walked during her many visits. Frances Perkins National Monument is a new national park. The National Park Service will continue to work with the local communities and partners, including the Frances Perkins Center located within the park, to plan for visitor experiences.
